I'm always eagerly on the look out for the next Itch to Stitch* pattern tester call as I just KNOW it's going to be amazing. Not necessarily always in design, although everybody needs the basics too, but amazing due to how brilliantly and professionally the patterns are drafted, graded, illustrated and finished! So when the call for the La Paz* came out, I admit, I squealed a little! And what can I say but WOW?! An unlined, beautifully tailored, notch collar blazer for knit fabrics with all the bells and whistles! Seriously I'm in awe of this jacket pattern, it made a garment perceived to be impossible to make at home, easily achievable for any confident experienced sewer and I just know I'll be making more.

From the very first sketch I saw of this beautiful dress in the Love Notions* newsletter, I just knew I needed the pattern! It was my first testing experience with Love Notions* and I was very impressed at how thorough their testing process went. Tami was so determined to get the fit perfect we actually went through 9 versions before getting to the final pattern! I was also super happy to be able to squeeze the bodice out of the last of the stunning Summer Garden print from Lulus Fabrics, the fabric and pattern just works so well together!
A unique cross between joggers, loungewear and workwear, the Tierras Woven Joggers* have just been released from Itch to Stitch* and they are totally brilliant! I've made 2 pairs in completely different fabrics, I'll only be showing you 1 pair as they weren't final version pattern but I'll talk about them because the fabric is definitely one to consider which you may not have. I'm looking forward to wearing my Tierra's in the summer as a great alternative to dresses whilst also being light and breezy, keep an eye on my blog as I've plans to make some new tops to go with these in the upcoming weeks as well!
The Tami* is another fab pattern by one of my favourite designers, New Horizons*. And it is absolutely crammed with options {which I haven't even been able to scratch the surface of during this test and blog} but I definitely aim to! It also introduced me to the concept of double hoods and I can't believe how amazing they look! It really could be the only ladies hoodie pattern you ever need with the added bonus of being a great scrap buster if you make versions like mine! I made 2 in testing and would have made more if I wasn't on holiday and had been able to get the fabric delivered to where we were staying.
My little men have recently had a bit of a growth spurt and one of the things they are majorly lacking in is PJ's that fit and they picked some fabric they wanted for some several weeks ago, so when the tester call for this lounge set came out I really had no excuse not to make some for them! They like to match quite a lot so I decided to make them from the same fabric and colours and use slightly different versions so they matched but weren't exactly the same!
Despite me saying just last week that I don't often wear hoodies, I was very interested in this version. The faux princess seaming hiding a built-in inseam kangaroo pocket and thumbholes in the cuffs gives it a nicely feminine touch and therefore fits into my style really well, especially when able to combine a couple of fabrics to add subtle pattern or colour. So here is my first and likely not my last Hideaway Hoodie....
You have probably noticed the blog has been quite quiet recently, this is due to me taking a break from pattern testing for a while to get some other things sorted. With those done, I popped online to see a few open tester calls from a couple of my favourite designers and jumped straight in! What better way to get my 'sew-jo' back than with some excellently drafted feminine makes?! So the first I'm sharing with you is the beautiful flounced skirt from Itch to Stitch*. I don't usually wear skirts in the winter but with some boots and tights, I might just start!
Following the ladies Swim & Surf shorts, the designer wanted a quick refresh of her Jasper Joggers pattern for woven fabrics. I knew these would be great for my boys for the Summer and they looked so versatile so I went for it and here they are, my first but certainly not last pair of Jasper Joggers! PS....read all the way to the end for a chance to win yourself a copy!
I've had the original version of this pattern in my cart for several months, waiting for both an occasion and the time to make it before buying. Then, just as I'm looking for dress patterns for something to wear to my Brother's wedding next month a call goes out to test a new add-on for it which is even more my style than the original pattern, what perfect timing! I immediately applied and pre-washed some fabric from my stash ready in hope! I'm super excited to show you all the Marbella with the new skirt add on*.......
My boys are all about the pockets, so these shorts with their kangaroo style pocket really appealed to them both! I had a quick rummage through my fabric stash and soon found something suitable. I only had time during testing to make a pair for one, not both but luckily, there is only half an inch difference in their waist measurements and because they have an elasticated waistband, they can both wear the same ones until I can sew some more up! I teamed the shorts up with a digger 'On Your Marks' t-shirt for these photos.
