When the testing call came out for this along with the Tierras Joggers, I didn't hesitate to apply, as although it's not a style I would usually go for, I haven't yet made a pattern from this designer which doesn't suit me or isn't flattering and I'm glad I did! Far apart from my usually very fitted clothing, this is a boxy style easy wearing comfy top with a lovely overlapping envelope style boat neckline and lends itself well to such a variety of knit fabrics which change the look from anything from a drapey feminine tee to a very boxy sweater! I'm especially looking forward to wearing mine in the summer when it's really too hot to wear clothing which is extremely close fitting as well as teaming with Tierras for comfy lounge wear. Pattern DetailsThe Newport Top* is a beginner+ printable PDF pattern from Itch to Stitch* in US sizes 00-20 (31-46" bust). The top has a relaxed fit through shoulder to bust and loose fit from bust down to the subtle high-low hem and includes the option for 3/4 length fluted or straight long length sleeves. Designed for knit fabrics with 20-50% stretch with good drape. There are up to 21 pages to print, trim and tape together depending on size or you could get the included A0 copy printed for you by a copy shop or similar if you prefer. As always with Itch to Stitch* patterns, the Newport Top* pattern includes very detailed size & measurement charts, print & cutting layout guides and is fully illustrated throughout with very professional drafting and finishing options, including full details on blending between sizes to get your best fit. The pattern pieces themselves have layers and all sizes have a different line colour and style so however you're printing, it will be super easy to assemble and cut. It requires between 1.5-1.9 metres (1.75-2.2 yards) of 54" wide knit fabric and a small amount of suitable weight fusible interfacing and that's it! My VersionsI made the Newport top in size 0 using some lovely lightweight 100% cotton single knit jersey. My jersey was 60" wide and I used just over a metre of it. I made no adjustments to the pattern and it was such a super quick sew taking less than 2 hours to make from print to finished! How does it fit?I find the top really comfortable, the shoulders sit in the right place, the length of both the sleeves and hemline sits just in the right place and there is a nice amount of ease through the bust and hips.
