This last week has been another busy one for my sewing machine with the first release being this gorgeous Starlight City Dress and Separates pattern from Lil Luxe Collection. It was the pretty twist back which attracted me to applying for this pattern test and {unlike the weather every time I tried to get photos} it didn't disappoint! Pattern DetailsThis is a PDF pattern with a 23 page instruction and tutorial file and a 42 page pattern file. It covers sizes XS-XXL (31-48" bust) with each size having both a seperate colour and line style. The file even includes layers for super easy printing and cutting no matter what your printer setup! The bodycon skirt has a pattern piece included but both gathered skirt versions have a cut chart to save on the printed pages. There are several options included and the instructions are separate for each version so there is no need to flick between steps to avoid those which aren't needed in your garment. The options include 3 different skirt styles (bodycon, gathered knee length and gathered maxi) and can be made as separates or as a complete dress. There are also 3 different bodice lengths, petite, regular and tall, to ensure your bra strap stays completely hidden behind the twist! My VersionsI made the petite length XS bodycon seperates, grading the skirt out to a small at the hips to match the size chart, I used 4-way stretchy jerseys for all elements (geo shapes is 96% viscose, 4% elastane and the grey marl is 92% polyester 8% elastane) I made no adjustments from the pattern. I used the petite length bodice and regular length skirt although the final pattern has the skirt lengthened by 4" from my version. I've also used a 95/5 cotton lycra for the skirt and made the bodice in the geo shapes to match the skirt as well, with both fabrics working well for the pattern. How does it fit?Overall, the fit is pretty spot on, the skirt is a little shorter than I normally wear but as mentioned above, the pattern for it has been lengthened in the final edit. The shoulder/sleeve seam is just a tiny bit too far up my shoulder in my opinion but not so much it causes any fit problems and I probably won't adjust it any on the next ones I make. Project CostPattern Cost, Full price - (£9.80) $14 - Disclosure, I got the final pattern free in return for testing Fabric Cost - £10 ($14.26) Notions Cost - £1 ($1.44) Total cost £20.80 ($29.70) Each additional set approximately £11-£12 ($15-$17) depending on fabric choices The pattern is on sale until 19th April with 30% off making it $9.80 (£6.85) and no code needed! The Verdict!I just LOVE the wow factor the back of this bodice provides, I love all the options and the idea of making separates to be able to mix and match them is so appealing! I have already got some fabric ideas lined up to increase my mix and match options so I'll definitely be sewing this up again!

Loving the colours and fabrics you chose. The grey works really well to balance out the pink print. Just gorgeous!
