I simply cannot tell you how much I love this pattern! Simple, classic and beautiful my absolute favourite pattern for me so far! It was instant love the minute I saw the designers photo in the tester group! There have been lots of these made by the testers in all the various options and I honestly haven't seen a single one that doesn't look amazing on, whatever shape or size the person is! So a little more about the pattern. It is from Sew Straight & Gather and the ladies pattern is in Canadian sizes 0-20 (approx UK 4-24) and the girls pattern comes in ages 2-14. It is a PDF pattern so needs printing but has the layers option so you can turn off any sizes you don't need to conserve ink and make following the lines for cutting easier. It prints 18 pages for the sleeveless version and 30 pages for the full dress with long sleeves. The pages are no-trim and line up perfectly, with just 2-4 pattern pieces needed for any of the options. It is designed for knit fabrics with a 50% stretch so there is negative ease drafted in. It is rated intermediate because of the clean finish of all the inside seams but I do believe a 'quick finish' version will be released in a blog post for the beginners to join in and sew this too. My first legend top was this pink one in a size 4, made from a high spandex content fabric, with long sleeves. Be sure to check the measurement chart carefully for this as I was one size bigger than I normally make in patterns from other designers. I made no modifications. There are 3 pattern pieces needed for this option, with 2 of the front bodice pattern needing cutting to make the front of the top lined I loved the pink one so much I just HAD to make myself another, this time sleeveless. I had some lovely heavy purple floral ponte de roma delivered to me last week and this pattern in mind when I bought it. In my haste to get sewing, I forgot to pre-wash the fabric so I need to hope it doesn't shrink in the wash! This fabric didn't have as much stretch as the pattern called for but I was eager to try it anyway and I'm so glad I did as I really love it, it fits snugger than the pink version I made so if I use a similar fabric again, I will probably size up one size. I feel the need to talk about the wrinkles shown in some of these photos, I don't feel these are there in normal wear, for the photos, it was 3 degrees and very windy outside when we spotted a perfect location for them and I was hurrying to have them taken so I didn't get too cold and I obviously didn't pay full attention to putting them on quite perfectly. I will endeavour to get some more photos taken that reflect the true fit soon.....maybe when it's a little warmer ;) I am looking forward to making the dress version of these tops for the Summer and definitely making more of these tops for me too......might even sneak a couple in for my Mum! So much time and effort has been put into drafting this pattern to perfection by Terri the designer and all the testers, with many making 4,5 or 6 versions as they love it so much! It has been a true pleasure working with Terri on this pattern. The Legends Top & Dress pattern has been released today on special price of just $5 CAD (approx £2.50!) or $10 (approx £5) for both the ladies and girls pattern bundle and is on sale until Midnight MST 19th February (around 7am GMT on 20th February for us Brits!) I am sure you will love this pattern as much as I do! Top Pattern - The Legends Top & Dress (Ladies) The Legends Top & Dress (Girls)
Trouser Pattern - Birkin Flares (seriously, have you got this pattern yet?!) Fabrics were both from de-stashes and I sadly don't have any details for either.
