You may notice this dress underneath the blazer in one of my next couple posts but I actually made this dress last September for my lovely friend's wedding but realised I haven't blogged about it yet so had a few photos taken of it on it's own. It was a beautiful vintage tea party themed wedding and I knew I wanted to try and fit in with that if I could. At the time I couldn't find a suitable PDF pattern so went rummaging through my paper pattern collection instead! A few months earlier, with a magazine I'd bought, I got New Look pattern K6799 and view A on the envelope cover jumped out at me and here it is! The pattern seems to be out of print now but still readily available on Ebay. It comes in Misses sizes 8-18 (31.5"-40" bust) I made the size 8 for this one with some beautiful floral 100% cotton lawn and a plain white for the lining (lining not included in the pattern). As expected, the fit needed some tweaking to be wearable with the main area being around the centre back invisible zip. It fit well at the waist and below but there was a rather large back neck gape when first sewn which I had to remove by taking out the zipper, putting on inside out and getting my husband to fold back the excess fabric and pin the centre back seam in the new position, then using that to attach the zip to - confusing but made the world of difference! It took out 5 inches in total from the top back neck! In doing so, it made the shoulders narrower than the pattern intends so if I sew this again I will add some neck darts in as well and take less out of the centre back. As far as the new photos, I am not wearing the same under it as I originally wore so the fit isn't quite the same. I have looked through the photos we took whilst at the wedding but somehow there isn't many photos of my dress and none at all of it full length. I'll share the only one I found that had enough of it in, I can't remember what was going on just before/during this photo being taken but my Husband and I were obviously having a good time!!
