Here is the Violet! A super pretty feminine pattern which includes a top and dress. I was actually asked if I'd like to test this pattern and as soon as I saw the drawing, I knew it was definitely for me, totally my style and couldn't wait to sew it up! Pattern DetailsThe Violet Top & Dress* is a PDF pattern is from Bella Sunshine Designs* It comes in Girls 6 months-12 years* and Ladies sizes 0-20*. It can be sewn with or without the front flounce and in top or dress length. There is a lovely finish achieved in this pattern, the spaghetti straps are nicely turned so there are no raw edges there and the front and back of the top have facings included which the straps are sandwiched between again hiding the raw edges. You need between 1m (1.1yards) and 2.3m (2.5 yards) of knit fabric with good recovery and some clear elastic for stabilising and strengthening. My VersionI made the size in top length. I used a poly spandex mix fabric which was actually upcycled from a dress I made last year and didn't like the fit of so I don't know exactly how much fabric I used but I only had 1 metre of it to start with so definitely less than that! I made no fit adjustments but did leave the hem of the flounce and the main hem raw as they draped much better in my fabric this way. It took me around 3 hours to make from printing to finished. How does it Fit?It fits me great, the straps and overall length are just right, the flounce is a nice length. It is fitted nicely at the bust and more relaxed through the waist and hips exactly as per the pattern intends. Project CostFull price pattern - (£9.81) $12.95 - I received the pattern for free in return for testing Fabric Cost - £6 ($7.92) Notions & Thread - £2.50 ($3.30) Total Cost - £18.31 ($24.31) Cost to make each additional with similar style and priced fabric - £8 ($10.57) The Violet Top and Dress patterns* are on release sale for $7 (£5.30) girls*, $9 (£6.81) ladies* or $12 (£9.09) for a bundle* with both in only until 22nd July! The VerdictI love the style of this dress and the pretty straps, I am not keen on having to wear a strapless bra with it so I'll see if I can work in an integrated bra to my next one or adapt the straps slightly to keep normal bra straps concealed but I will definitely be making more of these in both top and dress lengths! The top is very pretty. I was wondering if there was a built-in bra... not a shelf bra..... or do you need to wear a strapless bra?

Hi Julie, you would need to wear a strapless bra with it.
