The Tami* is another fab pattern by one of my favourite designers, New Horizons*. And it is absolutely crammed with options {which I haven't even been able to scratch the surface of during this test and blog} but I definitely aim to! It also introduced me to the concept of double hoods and I can't believe how amazing they look! It really could be the only ladies hoodie pattern you ever need with the added bonus of being a great scrap buster if you make versions like mine! I made 2 in testing and would have made more if I wasn't on holiday and had been able to get the fabric delivered to where we were staying. Pattern Details
My VersionsI made 2 Tami Hoodies* during testing, both were size XS with crossover hoods and standard cuffs. The grey version is made from regular fleece and cotton lycra scraps for the contrast and also has the inseam pockets. The yellow one is a light french terry fabric again with cotton lycra for the contrast. I made them both as per the pattern with no alterations at all. I did use cord ends on the ends of my drawstrings as I preferred the look on these but I couldn't get the type I wanted in any of my local shops so made do with these keeping the cords longer and will change them over to THESE type as soon as they arrive. I don't know exactly how much fabric I used or exactly how long they took me as I made them both whilst on a group holiday with lots of friends and their families. I do know that I used less than 130x170cm worth of the grey fleece as I used this IKEA polarvide fleece and only took 1 and had some left over still at the end. I also know that each one took less than 1 evening (7.30pm-midnight) to make from cutting the fabric to finished, I was socialising and eating alongside making so could have easily made it quicker in my sewing room and yes, I did take my machine on holiday, I did try a night without sewing but sewing is my method of winding down for sleep so that night didnt go well! How do they fit? They fit so well, nicely shaped and fitted yet relaxed enough they fit over layers easily. There really isn't anything I'll change about them and considering my last foray with a raglan sleeve pattern I was extremely happy with the way the raglan sleeves on these fit. Tester InspirationFor loads more photos of all the different options sewn up in a huge variety of fabrics check out the listing HERE* Project CostFull price pattern - (£8) $9.95 - I received the pattern for free in return for testing Fabric Cost - £8 ($9.95) Notions & Thread - £3 ($3.73) Total Cost for BOTH - £19 ($23.64 USD) Cost to make each additional in similar type and priced fabrics around £6-£7 ($7.46-$8.71) The Verdict!I really, really like these hoodies due to the way they fit and how many options it has included. I'm really looking forward to making a double hood and zip shoulder accent version, I just need to be patient waiting for my fabric to arrive and then a front zipper option as well! It's definitely a pattern I recommend buying especially if you only want 1 pattern to do everything!
