Another of my upcycle challenge entries was made using the Elevation Hoodie Pattern* to make this age 2 short sleeved tee version in cotton lycra and interlock, upcycled from a ladies stretchy tee and a childrens tee and I did add some dinosaur cotton lycra fabric to this one as well. Above are the two tops I used and below is what I made from them! I actually made this from the age 2 pattern with my youngest in mind but due to the fabric being quite thin and the amount of ease included for a good fitting hoodie, the age 2 fitted my 5 year old well! (he's age 4 in the Elevation Hoodie when made as a hoodie) Again as we're going into summer, and with it being made from t-shirt thickness fabrics, I wanted to make it short sleeve so cut the sleeve at 3" down from the armscye and made a 2" wide band the same width as the bottom of the new sleeve piece to 'hem' it. I also made sure that the bottom hem band was the same width as the bottom of the shirt as I didn't want it to pull the hem, I was going for the more relaxed look for a tee. I also didn't topstitch the 'V's' like I did in the hoodie versions in this t-shirt fabric, it just didn't seem to need it to look crisp and the seams behind dont bother him at all wearing.
