A short while ago a tester call went out for the Pepper Top, Peplum and Dress pattern by Little Finch Patterns for ages 2-16! Now, although I don't have any girls to sew it for, I fitted into the measurements myself and the style is pretty similar to some of the tunics and dresses I like to wear so I applied for me! It has a very flattering princess seamed bodice designed with colour-blocking in mind. As a little girl, I remember my favourite dresses or skirts were always the twirliest {probably made that word up!} ones and with the circle skirt on the dress option, I had a lot of fun reliving some childhood memories spinning around during the photos!

This is such a feminine top and as soon as I saw it in the Black Friday sales, I knew I wanted to try it! It is quite possibly the most impressive looking 2 pattern piece top I have come across so far and it's definitely my favourite!
I have been pretty quiet on the blog in December, I was concentrating on making and finishing lots of Christmas presents and didn't really have the time to write about them! Here are the first two gifts. My eldest son (Z, 4) decided he wanted to make 2 of his friends "superhero things" for Christmas, he knew which fabric he wanted them to have but didn't know what we should make from them. We sat together flicking through pages of patterns for around an hour short-listing a few along the way until he spotted what he called the "treasure collection one" that was the one and none of the others seemed to exist any more! Z likes collecting things wherever we are and I think he fancied the huge pocket for himself!
At the end of Novmber, my Husband started getting quite jealous that I was sewing myself so many nice well fitted pyjamas and asked if he could have some as well! This was a good thing in several ways as, as well as being able to have exactly what he wanted, finding him store bought ones that fit are practically impossible or extortionately priced!
The fabric choosing was the easiest, I let him loose on {some} of my {huge} fabric stash and rather predictably he chose some bright sesame street flannel and yellow jersey and told me he'd like the flannel as the arms and trousers of his PJ's. I knew the flannel would be fine for the trousers but did consider for a while how flannel would work as sleeves for a top seeing as most PJ tops are completely jersey but decided to go with it anyway and adapt if needs be. |
