![]() Wow, where is 2019 going? September already?! It's definitely starting to feel autumnal here in the UK with the winds picking up, temperatures dropping and darker evenings drawing in. So for most it's time to sew all the sweaters, coats and jeans, of which I have plenty planned. We have just received a wedding invite for a November wedding though, so instead, my sewing has been focussing on making myself an outfit warm enough for cooler weather whilst still looking dressy enough for the occasion, fingers crossed I've managed!

Earlier this week, I shared some photos of these tees I made my boys with the amazing custom Fire Scales Fabric from Rumpled Stitchings flash preorder (Closes 15th April 2017, be quick!) and had so many requests for the pattern name that I agreed to upload the templates I used along with instructions to my blog so you can make your own! My boys have literally worn these solidly since the photos were taken and I'm pretty sure your little people will love them too ;) *** PLEASE NOTE ***
It is ESSENTIAL you check your local laws and make sure they fully comply whether gifting or selling. EG. In the UK these would class as dressing up and need CE testing & marking etc and as the maker that is your responsibility. Alter the templates as needed to comply. This is a first for me on my blog, it isn't so much a review of sewing patterns but of the fabric itself! I was lucky enough to be selected as a 'strike-off' sewer for this beautiful fabric to test it's properties to the max! I washed it, tumble dried it, checked for colour running, fading and shrinkage and sewed it up into various different garments to test how it sews, stretches, wears and looks! Here are my findings and finished garments with no editing to the photos to try and show as natural a representation as possible in different lighting.
It's all too easy to get caught up in the sewing of outerwear but what about underwear? If I'm going to be able to wear fully handmade with nothing new being shop bought, I'm going to need undies! So, when a tester call for a variety of styles came out from Little Finch Designs*, I jumped on board and started busting through my scraps pile! There are 2 styles included in this first pattern bundle with another 2 styles in testing for release in a couple of weeks and I'm sure you're pleased to hear these won't be shown as modelled photos, I'm not sure anyone wants to see that!!
Whilst the majority of my sewing projects are clothes, every now and then an 'accessory' pattern pops up which seems perfect for someone in our family. This time it was the Cuddly Carrier by Bishy Barnababes. Being a babywearing family, this toy version is right up our street!
