Welcome to the final day of the Itch to Stitch Love Blogtour. Like many others when the news hit that Kennis, the designer behind Itch to Stitch had been burgled whilst away on holiday, I was deeply saddened and felt like I needed to do something to help. I am always in awe of how the sewing community and bloggers pull together in times of need and this was no exception, before very long a blog tour was arranged and here it is, I'm so glad to be involved in this tour and do my part to help, as such this post contains NO AFFILIATE LINKS.
When considering what to make for my post of the tour, I was torn between sewing one of the few ITS patterns I hadn't yet sewn or going back to my ever faithful, favourite pattern of all time, the Marbella. Guess what won?!
Of course it did, I'm always looking for new ways to sew this dress up and with Christmas and Holiday season rapidly creeping up on us it was a perfect time.
Due to personal circumstances I was unable to get modeled photos in time for this post but rest assured it fits as well and looks equally as good as both my previously blogged and modelled Marbella dresses here
As I wanted something a little special for my Christmas dress over any other little back dress, I chose some sparkle short pile black velvet. It oozes luxury and indulgence and drapes beautifully.
I made it exactly the same as the previous 2, with no adjustments needed for the thicker fabric. I will admit though, the velvet was a little tricky to sew as my iron easily melted it so pressing was very tricky and the pile meant it moved around quite a bit and despite pinning it to the extreme, it still shifted a little. I think though, that it really does go to show how versatile this pattern is, I've used cotton poplin, cotton sateen and now velvet and all have worked perfectly giving hugely different looks.
I'll end my stop with a collage of some of my favourite Itch to Stitch patterns so far, I really do love ITS patterns and I'm very close to my goal of sewing the entire collection! I would definitely recommend them to everyone.
A huge thanks to our tour sponsors, please do pop by their sites along with visiting all the other talented bloggers who participated too, see you soon!
