Firstly, I have to admit to forgetting about setting up this blog in May! I did however complete the challenge set and I managed to complete 6 garments during the month including 3 tops, a skirt a summer dress and even an Evening dress with bolero! I have since made several more tops and dresses as well. I will dig out the photos and review the patterns used over the next few weeks.
Beauty Sleep PJ's
Last week I was lucky to be chosen to test the new ladies pyjama pattern from Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop, it has a trendy slim fitted look with a mid scoop neck and cuffs on the wrists and ankles and I have become addicted to them! I want to wear them all the time!
The Beauty Sleep PJ's are a PDF pattern with 30 pages to print, assemble and cut out in your size which took around an hour to sort but once they're done, the jammies themselves are a lovely quick sew, taking me around 3 hours including cutting the fabric! The instructions are clear and each stage includes photos. With just a little knowledge of stretch fabrics anyone could sew them!
As soon as I found out I was testing the pattern I dived in making a muslin pair. I used a very slinky rayon jersey with pink flowers from my stash with some fuchsia ribbing for the cuffs and neckband. I soon realised I would be making many more pairs and ordered some plain fuschia light jersey to make co-ord's to mix and match with the muslin pair. I also had the purple and grey floral stretch viscose and matching cotton interlock jump into my basket just asking to be made into another pair! How could I resist?! One of the conditions of testing patterns for designers is that you submit modelled photos of the finished garments. Normally this is a pretty easy outdoor shoot styled with another garment or two but pyjamas lend themselves more to an indoor shoot a bit out of the ordinary and my comfort zone! Armed with a book, some headphones and a {sadly empty} mug of 'coffee' I tried various poses and actually had quite a bit of fun jumping on a bed! So what's next? I love them so much I am currently making pair number 4 and also have plans to use the pattern for the top as a daytime top and for layering so watch this space!
Here is the link directly to the pattern which has now been release! Why not take a look through the other patterns Peek-a-Boo pattern shop has to offer? The children's Alex & Anna Pyjamas go perfectly with the ladies Beauty Sleep PJ's and the Hit-the-Hay PJ pant's would be great for all the men! Perfect for Christmas gifts! (Aff link is included) Fabrics from Tia Knight Fabrics.
