Although not a unique or original pattern idea, I believe a perfectly fitting turtleneck top is a wardrobe essential, so when Christina of Wardrobe by Me* asked if I'd be interested in helping to test the pattern, I was more than happy to. I class it as an 'essential' as not only is it a great garment for layering under other garments to make them cold weather suitable, it can also be worn as a top in its own right and even a sweater if made in sweater knit! Plus with 5 sleeve options including sleeveless it really can be used for so many different looks! I'm looking forward to making more of these but here is my first, modelled on a very cold and windy beach in the UK in December, I must really love it! Pattern Details![]() The Trudy Turtleneck* is a 27 page fully illustrated PDF pattern by Wardrobe by Me*. Body measurement and final measurement charts are both included in metric and imperial as well as a page print layout to help with assembling the pattern. It is for sizes US 0-16 (30.5-42.5" bust / 33.5-45.5" hips) and include a choice of high or low collar and 5 sleeve options ranging from sleeveless to full long sleeve. You just need between 90cm and 135cm (1 yard and 1.5 yards) of 60" wide lightweight knit or rib fabric with either 2 or 4 way stretch and you'll need to print upto 16 no-trim layered pages for any of the options included. It is rated "Advanced Beginner" but I'd say as long as you can sew with jersey fabric and follow the detailed instructions and illustrations carefully, a beginner could easily tackle this pattern. My VersionAs per my measurements, I made the size 2. I chose the high collar and long sleeves and used a lightweight viscose elastane mix knit fabric and made no adjustments at all to the pattern. I used just over a metre of fabric and it literally took me an hour from printing to finished! How does it fit?Great! It's been a long time since I've sewn any pattern which was perfect first time around, let alone one in testing, yet this one was! The collar fits nicely over my head and sits snug to my neck but is not tight. The main body of the Trudy* is designed to have a little negative ease which it did. Now although I am only 5'4" and it is drafted for someone 5'6", I didn't take anything out of the length as I like slightly longer tops, but even if I had have adjusted for those 2" it would still be long enough to fit me. When I make it next time, I will keep the bodice length everything the same other than possibly taking an inch out of the sleeve length as a height adjustment.
